Poem

Encore

A pianist finishes his performance in a dark, empty hall.

12 lines

Darkness.
A single, gleaming spotlight
The grand hall a gaping sea of velvet
His fingers parading, flowing,
the piano pulls at them
until they blend into the black and white.
He sways and sways,
As time stands still.

When the last note rings its due
He opens his eyes to the darkness.
Greeted only by his smile
Beaming in the lacquered wood
